KD’s Animal Haven Policies
Welcome to KD’s Animal Haven! Our goal is to provide a safe, clean, and loving environment for every animal in our care. These policies help protect the health, safety, and comfort of all pets, livestock, and guests on our property.
By booking services with KD’s Animal Haven, you agree to the following policies and requirements.
General Policies
Reservations & Deposits
Reservations are recommended for all boarding, daycare,
and home visit services.
Holiday and peak-season bookings may require a non-refundable deposit.
Full payment is due at pickup or completion of services unless otherwise arranged.
Check-In & Check-Out
Check-in and check-out times are by appointment only.
Please arrive on time so we can provide the best care for all animals.
Late pickups may result in additional fees.
Health & Safety
All animals must be healthy and free of contagious illness, parasites, or aggressive behavior.
Owners must disclose any medical conditions, injuries, allergies, or behavioral concerns before services begin.
KD’s Animal Haven reserves the right to refuse service to any animal that poses a safety risk to staff, guests, or other animals.
Emergency Veterinary Care
In the event of illness or injury, KD’s Animal Haven will attempt to contact the owner immediately.
If emergency veterinary care is necessary and the owner cannot be reached, KD’s Animal Haven is authorized to seek treatment at the owner’s expense.
Owners are financially responsible for all veterinary costs incurred during care.
Personal Belongings
Owners may bring approved bedding, food, halters, blankets, toys, or comfort items.
KD’s Animal Haven is not responsible for lost or damaged personal belongings.
Feeding & Medication
Owners should provide enough food for the duration of their animal’s stay unless other arrangements are made.
Medications must be clearly labeled with instructions.
We will administer medications as directed, but owners must disclose all medical needs in advance.
Dog & Cat Boarding Policies
Vaccine Requirements
Dogs must have current:
Rabies
DHPP or DHLPP
Bordetella (kennel cough)
Cats must have current:
Rabies
FVRCP
Proof of vaccination from a licensed veterinarian is required prior to check-in.
Flea & Tick Prevention
All dogs and cats must be on a current flea and tick prevention program.
Animals arriving with fleas or ticks may be treated at the owner’s expense.
Temperament & Behavior
Dogs must be non-aggressive toward people and other animals.
Any history of biting, severe anxiety, escape behavior, or aggression must be disclosed before booking.
KD’s Animal Haven reserves the right to separate animals for safety when necessary.
Food & Special Care
Owners are encouraged to bring their pet’s regular food to avoid digestive upset.
Special feeding instructions should be provided in writing.
Dog & Cat Daycare Policies
Daycare Eligibility
Dogs must be social, manageable, and comfortable in a group environment.
Puppies must be fully vaccinated according to their veterinarian’s recommendations.
Cats participating in daycare or social visits must be healthy and tolerant of handling and activity.
Safety & Supervision
Animals are supervised throughout the day, but normal play may result in minor scratches, dirt, or wear.
Owners acknowledge that interaction with other animals carries inherent risks.
Illness Policy
Animals showing signs of illness including vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, or lethargy should remain home until symptom-free for at least 24 hours.
Horse Boarding Policies
Vaccine Requirements for Horses
All horses must have current:
Rabies
Tetanus
West Nile
EWT/WEE or equivalent core vaccines recommended by a veterinarian
Owners may also be asked to provide:
Current Coggins test
Deworming schedule
Boarding Requirements
Horses must be manageable for routine care and handling.
Owners must disclose any cribbing, kicking, biting, fence walking, or medical concerns.
Horses with dangerous or aggressive behavior may be refused boarding.
Feed & Supplements
Owners may provide specialty feed or supplements if desired.
Feeding instructions must be clearly labeled and communicated in writing.
Farrier & Veterinary Care
Owners remain responsible for routine farrier and veterinary care.
In emergencies, KD’s Animal Haven may contact a veterinarian on the owner’s behalf if the owner cannot be reached.
Tack & Equipment
Owners are responsible for clearly labeling tack, blankets, feed bins, and equipment.
KD’s Animal Haven is not responsible for lost or damaged items.
Home Visit Policies
Access to Property
Owners must provide safe and reliable access to the property and animals.
Any gate codes, alarm instructions, feeding directions, or special care information must be provided before visits begin.
Home Visit Services May Include
Feeding and watering
Potty breaks and turnout
Medication administration
Litter box cleaning
Basic companionship and wellness checks
Safety
Animals with known aggression or escape tendencies must be disclosed in advance.
KD’s Animal Haven reserves the right to discontinue visits if conditions are unsafe.
Cancellation Policy
Boarding & Horse Boarding
Cancellations should be made at least 48 hours in advance.
Holiday reservations may have separate cancellation terms.
Daycare & Home Visits
We appreciate as much notice as possible for cancellations or schedule changes.
Liability Waiver
By using KD’s Animal Haven services, owners acknowledge:
Animals can experience stress, illness, injury, or unexpected incidents despite reasonable care and supervision.
Participation in boarding, daycare, horse boarding, transport, turnout, or social play involves inherent risks.
KD’s Animal Haven is not liable for illness, injury, escape, loss, or death caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control.
Right to Refuse Service
KD’s Animal Haven reserves the right to refuse or discontinue services for:
Aggressive or dangerous behavior
Unvaccinated animals
Sick or contagious animals
Unsafe owner conduct
Failure to comply with policies
